'Kids'

Everyone gives me a bad time about kids and photography. They seem to roll their eyes if I say I have a child session. I have no problem with children or wanting to photograph them. The main reason sometimes I enter those sessions with "fear and trembling" is I never know what I might get or if I will get a shot at all. I feel people get prepared make the drive and I want to feel like I have "got" something for them. So that is my concern not the kids but on my end what I will get. But if they all were like the photo here it would be great. This is the son of client from a few years back that always brings her children when she is home. I really liked this shot and appreciate her very much for always thinking of me when she is home. Thanks Kali!

LC Senior Baseball

A shot of the senior baseball guys at Labette County High School. Did this shot for their coach as a surprise present for him. We had the guys come in early one morning and shoot this. Liked the shot and the light cooperated that day also.

"Alex"

A photo from a senior session from Tuesday. The good thing about senior photos these days is being able to make them personal. Alex is interested in trains. Luckily the Cherryvale depot had some engines on the track and they were good enough to let us shoot by it. My senior photos were still back in the day ( I hate to say that it sounds like I am getting old) when all we did as seniors was a traditional head and shoulder. I am so glad as a photographer all that has changed.

"Real Moments"

This is a shot from a recent family session. The kids were off camera giving mom and dad a hard time but it made for a real moment. I love the fact that it is a spontaneous reaction. Often the time taken to do a very posed picture lets people get their guard up and it is harder to get those authentic expressions. Just liked the moment!!

My first senior session of the the season. Amanda Cruce from Dewey. I had told her to take a break while I was doing a battery change and she was just waiting on me and I loved this pose. So I shot this and did a high contrast black and white of it. Just shows that sometimes all the pre posed pictures aren't always the best. This just happened and I really like it. The happy accidents are sometimes the best!

Been awhile since my last post. Just been busy getting things together for the senior picture season. The above photo is from a family session from last week. I am glad families are wanting to do more location and places that mean something to them, that really make their photo "them". This is Angie Dillion and her family. I did Angie's senior pictures when she attended Labette County High School and also her wedding when I still did wedding photography. I think the old combine made a good backdrop.
